Podnebne spremembe, onesnaževanje vseh naravnih okolij, izguba biotske raznovrstnosti in množično izumiranje drugih vrst ogrožajo planet in nas.

Stephens, s sklepno razpravo s profesorji UP FAMNIT.

ABOUT THE TOPIC

In 2020, the UNDP Human Development Report confirmed the concept of the Anthropocene, »in which humans are a dominant force shaping the planet’s future«.

Climate change, pollution of all natural environments, biodiversity loss, and mass extinctions of other species challenge the planet, and us. UNDP argues that “Consciously or not, human choices, shaped by values and institutions, have given rise to the interconnected planetary and social imbalances we face”2.

This lecture will examine the global environmental and social context, focusing on the need for renewed ethical discussions, especially for future scientists and policymakers. It will also introduce the University of Primorska's new course on environmental ethics, launching in 2025 under Professor Stephens, with a concluding discussion with UP FAMNIT professors.
