Tuesday, 15 July 2025 UNESCO representatives visit UP FAMNIT to explore graduate tracking initiatives

On 15 July 2025, UP FAMNIT welcomed representatives from the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe with special focus on South-East Europe and the Mediterranean basin (based in Venice, Italy). The visit aimed to explore potential collaborations focused on tracking and engaging FAMNIT alumni after graduation.

The UNESCO delegation included Programme Specialist Megumi Watanabe, Associate Project Officer Laura Bortolutti, and Christopher Sundaram, an intern at UNESCO from the Harvard Divinity School, Harvard University.

During the visit, discussions centered around the possibility of conducting a study to follow the academic and professional trajectories of FAMNIT graduates. The initiative would support long-term engagement with alumni and strengthen the network between the faculty and its former students.

Pamela Jere and Blanka Palčič from the University of Primorska presented the UP Alumni Club and its current activities. Sabrina Ostanek, President of the UP FAMNIT Alumni Club and a mathematics alumna, shared her personal journey and experiences leading the club.

The meeting highlighted shared interests in education, community building, and knowledge exchange, laying the groundwork for potential future cooperation between UP FAMNIT and UNESCO.
