Monday, 31 March 2025 UP FAMNIT Student group - Mentes Ethicae shared their goals at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine

Hristina Gelevska, a Conservation Biology student at UP FAMNIT, visited Professor Carolyn Stephens' Environmental Ethics lectures at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine last Friday, March 21, 2025. During her visit, she introduced their student ethics group, called Mentes Ethicae.

Hristina explained the group's motivations and goals to Professor Stephens's students. Following her presentation, they engaged in several discussions and debates on various topics in Environmental Ethics. Hristina noted that the students showed a strong interest in their group and were eager to share their thoughts.

After the presentation, they surveyed FAMNIT students to see their interest in a new elective Ethics course.

"We are very pleased that so many students responded and expressed interest, and we will keep the survey available on our website, which should be fully finished and accessible online by the beginning of April," she summarized.

Professor Carolyn Stephens is an environmental epidemiologist and ethics expert, holding positions at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, University College London, and, since 2024, the University of Primorska. Her research focuses on equity, environment, health, ethics, and human and environmental rights on a global scale.

In November of last year, Professor Stephens also gave lectures at UP FAMNIT titled "Renewing Our Values Towards the Planet in the Anthropocene Era: Why We Need to Discuss Environmental, Conservation, and Animal Ethics More Than Ever Before."
