Thursday, 5 September 2024 UP FAMNIT student and her team won 6th place at the Paralympic Games in Paris
Tija Vrhovnik, a Master's student in Psychology UP FAMNIT, and her team won sixth place at the Paralympic Games in Paris.
Tija also shared her impressions of the game in a short statement for RTV SLO: “Even though the Italian team didn’t play their best today, we simply couldn’t get it together. We failed to lift the ball and play effectively; every effort that we managed ended in a mistake. I regret how the match unfolded, but that’s sports,” said Tija Vrhovnik, who added: “Our dreams were certainly bigger, but unfortunately, things turned out the way they did. I’m sorry that we couldn’t make a comeback in the end.
Despite the challenges they have faced, we believe they have immense power, which they have already proven. It should be emphasised that last year, the team won an excellent second place at the Sitting Volleyball European Championships, where in December, they were awarded the prize for the best athlete with a disability. Later, they earned a ticket to Paris.
We sincerely congratulate Tija and her team and wish them continued success in their sporting endeavours!
