Wednesday, 28 May 2025 Round table on knowledge transfer and innovation activities between the university and industry

On Monday, 26 May 2025, under the auspices of the Centre for Development and Knowledge Transfer of the University of Primorska, Faculty of Management (CRPZ UP FM), a round table entitled Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Activities between the University and Industry took place at the UP FM premises from 10.00 until 11.00.

The round table brought together representatives from the business sector, including the Director of the Primorska Chamber of Commerce, Robert Rakar, the Advisor to the Management Board of Luka Koper (Human Resources), Matej Osenar, and Dr. Jure Vajs, Head of Strategic Programmes at the pharmaceutical company Lek d.d., as well as representatives from the University of Primorska: UP Rector Prof. Dr. Klavdija Kutnar; the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Nejc Šarabon; and Assist. Prof. Dr. Aleksander Tošič from UP FAMNIT. The discussion focused on past experiences and future plans related to the opportunities for mutual cooperation in the field of knowledge transfer and innovation activities between companies and universities.

The participants discussed how such cooperation is incorporated into the strategic documents and operations of their companies or organisations, and analysed good practices in this field. The discussion also addressed the challenges identified by company representatives in the business environment, as well as proposed measures for enhancing future collaboration.

In conclusion, the participants also evaluated the role of university knowledge transfer offices as intermediaries in establishing relationships between universities and companies, particularly in the context of innovation activities.
