Monday, 12 May 2025 Opening of the 14th European Conference on Vertebrate Management (EVMC 2025)
The 14th European Conference on Vertebrate Management (EVMC 2025) is taking place in Ankaran from 12 to 16 May 2025, organised by the Faculty of Environmental Protection in collaboration with partner organisations: UP FAMNIT, UL Biotechnical Faculty, the Julius Kühn Institute, the Hunting Association of Slovenia and Koper and the Forestry Institute of Slovenia.
The conference is a continuation of previous meetings with an additional focus on the involvement of all vertebrate species and different management approaches, including ecology, monitoring and conservation. At the same time, EVMC 2025 is a platform for presenting the latest scientific knowledge on vertebrate ecology, the ecosystem role and value of different species, hunting, behaviour, interspecific and intraspecific interactions, human-animal coexistence, conflicts and population management.
The conference focuses on the latest and most interesting topics in a wide range of disciplines and taxa, including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, small mammals, lagomorphs, ungulates, small and large carnivores.
The 230 participants from 28 countries (all continents except South America) were also welcomed by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food of the Republic of Slovenia, Mateja Čalušić, with an address emphasizing the importance of such events.
