Tuesday, 2 March 2021 New doctoral study programme Suicidology and Mental Health

The University of Primorska has successfully obtained the accreditation of a new doctoral study programme Suicidology and Mental Health, which will be implemented at UP FAMNIT in cooperation with the UP IAM Slovene Centre for Suicide Research.

This specialized study programme will train students for independent international competitive scientific research in the fields of suicidology and mental health. This is the first doctoral study programme in the field of suicidology in Slovenia, which is an important achievement given the issue of suicidal behaviour and the need to develop high-quality research in this field.

Programme coordinator Assoc. Prof. Vita Poštuvan, PhD, said about the programme: »The advantage of the programme is a wide range of internal elective courses that are directly or indirectly connected to the fields of suicidology and mental health. These courses cover specialized research areas that students can choose according to the research areas in which they are professionally engaged. In this way, doctoral students will acquire competencies for the transfer of theoretical knowledge from specialized fields into practice and for connecting the knowledge with other scientific disciplines.«

The study programme will be implemented in the next academic year at UP FAMNIT. More information will soon be available on the faculty's website. Deadlines and selection criteria will be published in the Call for Enrolment in Postgraduate Study Programmes.
