Thursday, 24 April 2025 Dr. Ana Slavec chaired the Arnes HackathON award committee at the 32nd Slovenian Informatics Days Conference

Dr. Ana Slavec , assistant professor at UP FAMNIT and InnoRenew CoE researcher, attended the 32nd Slovenian Informatics Day Conference on the 15th and 16th of April 2025 in Portorož, held under the theme “Digital future for everyone”. At the event, she presided over the Arnes HackathON award committee that selected the three best student teams competing to create solutions for real-world challenges. The purpose of the hackathon is to promote the use of supercomputers and the use of open data.

This was the second time she participated in the committee, and she was impressed with the work presented by the students. The winning team developed an optimization of biological drug production, the second place was an app to help limit the spread of forest fires and the third focused on detecting deforestation.
