Tuesday, 12 March 2024 UP FAMNIT student won 1st place at the POPRI competition
Last week, at the Primorska Technology Park, the semi-final selection of the entrepreneurial ideas competition – POPRI, took place, bringing together young enthusiasts from all over Slovenia.
Matic Bončina, a 1st-year student in the Computer Science program (UP FAMNIT), together with Matej Aleksov from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana, successfully identified a problem and received an excellent 1st place for their solution.
He's shared his first thoughts on the entire process of development of the Repono online service, of which he is very proud: "We are very proud that our solution to mandatory relocations, which causes trouble for students every year, has been recognized. We are excited about participating in the final in Nova Gorica. With the funds that we have already obtained, we are keen to improve the product and achieve the ultimate mission of making the academic years the best years in students' lives."
What is Repono? Repono is an online service that serves for the safe storage and relocation of students' belongings during holidays or items they don't need outside the season. This allows students to focus on things that truly matter - studying, gaining work experience, and enjoying a carefree summer.
This year, compete almost 30 percent more young people in the national competition for entrepreneurial ideas, which means 607 participants who have developed 203 innovative business models. About half of them managed to reach the semi-finals, and the best will contest in the final, held on 4 April 2024 in Nova Gorica.
Popri competition is organised by the Primorska Technology Park with the cooperation with Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport, SPIRIT Slovenia Business Development Agency, the Slovene Enterprise Fund (SEF), which also provides the prize pool of the competition. Other organizers are the Government Office for Slovenians Abroad, the City Municipality of Nova Gorica, and the Municipality of Šempeter-Vrtojba.
Congratulations on the first place and good luck in Nova Gorica!
