Introduction & How to choose

Exchange students can choose among all subjects offered in English. 

Additionally, some professors offer the possibility for exchange students to attend their classes even when they are organized in Slovene. In this case, you will be expected to do more individual work, while professors will offer you consultations, where you will be able to discuss your progress. 

In all subjects offered to exchange students, exams are held in English. 

You can choose subjects from different departments of UP FAMNIT and faculties within the University of Primorska, though we recommend you pay attention to the recognition process at your institution. At the least, you should observe the level of studies when selecting the subject, and give special emphasis to thematic overlap.

The table indicates the language used for instruction and the specific semester in which each course is available. If the course is conducted in English, there is an opportunity for individual work and consultation in English. 
  • When searching through the list, we highly recommend using the search engine to filter the options according to your study program, level, and the semester of your exchange.
  • Most courses are offered only in the autumn semester (A) or the summer semester (S), so you can only select courses available in the semester your exchange will take place.
  • Bachelor-level students can choose either bachelor or master courses (provided they have the required prerequisite knowledge), while master students can only select master courses.
  • To help you choose your courses appropriately, please review the course content and prerequisites under the "more" section in the rightmost column of the list.

Academic calendar

The academic year lasts from 1 October to 30 September. It consists of two semesters: Autumn (from October until mid-February) and Spring (from mid-February until the beginning of June). Each semester is divided into two academic quarters. There are three main examination periods (Winter, Summer, Autumn).
