ŠIS REQUESTS

This sections presents different requests available for submission only in ŠIS. With each request, it is necessary to state the justification, attachments and upload the required supporting documents listed under each description of the request. A short video demonstration of the submission of the request is available here.

Requests for coursestop

Requests for courses are active at the beginning of each semester. The submission deadline is determined each academic year by the Commission for Study and Study Affairs. A student submits the request in ŠIS.

Changing the elective course

A student can choose between the courses, available in the current academic year. The list of courses is published here.

Courses chosen in the current academic year:

- a student has to clearly write the name of the course he wants to change and the name of the course he want to take,
- a mandatory attachment to the request is the consent of the professor of the course a student want to take.

Courses chosen in the past academic years:

Changing the course, chosen in previous academic years is only possible in exceptional, justified cases:
- health, social or other unforeseeable circumstances: a mandatory attachments are the documents that confirm the reasons stated in the request,
- reasons related to the implementation of the course: a mandatory attachment is the recommendation of the study programme coordinator.

A mandatory attachment to the request is the consent of the professor of the course a student want to take.

Taking the courses from the higher year

Students who are re-enrolled in the year (repetition, use of Year Plus, extended status) and individuals who have lost their student status can apply to fulfill the obligations of the senior year, as long as they meet the conditions listed below. Students enrolled for the first time in the 1st or 2nd year are not entitled to take courses from the higher year, with the exception of students who are planning an Erasmus exchange in the 2nd or 3rd year.

The conditions for submitting an application are as follows:

  • completed all prescribed study obligations for the last enrolled year and previous years
  • courses are conducted at the UP FAMNIT faculty

- a student has to clearly write the name of the course he wants to take,
- a mandatory attachment to the request is the consent of the professor of the course.

When submitting the request, the student is obliged to attach additional proof if all completed study obligations are not entered in ŠIS (certificate and explanation from the course leader/lecturer about the passed exam).

Taking (removing) additional study obligations

The student can perform additional study obligations outside the program. Additional study obligations outside the program are not counted in the average of the enrolled study program.

A student has to clearly write the name of the course he wants to take. A mandatory attachment is the consent of the professor of that course.

Changing the course language

The student must take courses in the language of the study program in which he/she is enrolled. Changing the language of the course is only possible for elective courses taught in one language.

In the application, the student clearly writes the reason and which elective course he/she wants to change, and must attach the consent of the course leader/lecturer  to the request. The application is submitted under the category Change of elective course.

Requests for enrollmenttop

Requests for enrollment are available in SIS in accordance with the Schedule of enrollment available here.

A student can submit only ONE of the following requests in ŠIS at a time (see photo below)

IMPORTANT: The Committee for Study and Student Affairs will automatically examine the next most favorable enrollment solutions for the student, in case the submitted requests is denied (see Requests organization chart). A student can submit the request before he/she receives all the exam results. In case a student fulfills the advancement requirements afterwards, he/she withdraw the request for enrollment and must informs the Student Services about it.

EXAMPLEA student submits a request for enrollment in the higher year without all obligations and the request is denied by the Committee for Study and Student Affairs. The committee then examine the next favorable enrollment solution for the student, i.e. extension of the student status. In case a student has the right to extend the status, he will have opened enrollment paper. In case a student has no right to extend the student status, he will have an option to repeat the year (only in case he did not repeat the year or changed the study programme so far). In case also this option in not available for the student, he will be a pavzer in the next academic year.

Enrollment in the higher year without all obligations  

Exceptionally,  student may enroll in a higher year, even if he / she has not fulfilled all the obligations set out in the study program for enrollment in a higher year, when he / she has justified reasons, such as: maternity, illness, exceptional family and social circumstances, students with special needs, active participation in top professional, cultural and sports events, active participation at the University.

The student must submit an application in his / her ŠIS for enrollment in a higher year without completed study obligations. Under the justification, he briefly writes down why he did not complete his study obligations and why he wants to enrol in a higher study year.

Attachments: The application must be accompanied by relevant evidence showing the reasons given in the statement of reasons.

Extension of student status

In accordance with the Higher Education Act (Article 70), a student may apply for an extension of student status during his / her studies, but for a maximum of one year and must therefore have justified reasons.

In order to extend his / her status in ŠIS, the student must submit an application for the extension of the student's status and state in the justification that he / she wants to extend the status and the reasons why he / she wants to extend the student's status.

Attachments: The application must be accompanied by relevant evidence showing the reasons given in the statement of reasons.

Extension of students status in the st year (Year plus - foreign students

If the student meets the conditions for using Leta Plus, he submits an application to ŠIS. The student receives an e-mail about the prepared registration form and follows the instructions for registration.

Repeating the year (re-enrollment)

A student who has not completed all the obligations set out in the study program for enrollment in a higher year may, taking into account the provisions of the Higher Education Act, repeat the year once during their studies.Requirements for repeating the year for each study programme are availabe at the description of each study programme (in the section Continuation of studies according to the transfer criteria).

A study programmes with the requirements for repeating the year:

  • PMA, PRIN, PZ: a student may repeat a year once during his / her studies if he / she collects at least 18 ECTS of the enrolled year;
  • VN, TGO: a student may repeat a year once during his / her studies if he / she achieves at least 24 credits of the enrolled year.
  • Attachments: Not required. 

Study language change

A student who wants to change the study language of the enrolled study programme, he/she has to state in the justification the reasons for changing the study lanugage.

Attachments: Not required.

Request for parallel enrollment

A request for parallel enrollment is submitted by the student, who wants to take a parallel study. A requirement for taking the parallel study is an average grade at least 8 and positively examined requet.

Attachments: Not required.

Other requests top

Requests are active throughout the academic year.

Withdrawal from an exam registration

If the student does not withdraw from the exam on time due to insurmountable circumstances (illness or other insurmountable circumstances), he must submit a request to the ŠIS within five days from the date of the exam at the latest and submit the relevant supporting documents.

In the request, the student clearly writes the name of the exam from which he/she wants to withdraw, gives valid reasons and must attach proof that supports the stated reasons.

Extension of the thesis topic

A student can apply for an extension of the validity of the topic of the Master's thesis for a maximum of one year for justified reasons. The student attaches to the application Form 2: Application for extending the validity of the topic of the master's thesis, as well as the written consent of the supervisor. Recognition of examinations (previously acquired skills)

A student who has previously formally acquired knowledge for the process of possible recognition submits a request to ŠIS. In the application, he clearly writes the title of the subject he has previously completed and the title of the subject he proposes to be recognized at UP FAMNIT. As proof, it is mandatory to attach a certificate of completion of the obligation and the curriculum of the completed course (confirmed with the stamp of the previous faculty).

Completing exams in advance

On the basis of legitimate reasons and the written consent of the course provider, a student may take an exam or exams from the courses of the year in which he is enrolled early. Justifiable reasons include going abroad for studies or professional practice, hospitalization during the exam period, childbirth, and participation in a extraodrinary sports competition or extraordinary cultural event, etc. The student must attach the consent of the course instructor to the application as proof.

Statement on the withdrawal

If the student wishes to withdraw from UP FAMNIT, he submits a request to the ŠIS, to which he attaches the Statement of withdrawal form available here as an attachment.

Other requests

Under this category, the student submits requests related to the reduction or exemption of tuition fees / enrollment contributions or other contributions. The form is available here.
